"I am fearful that he set the bar really high for future Presidents"

The bar has been rising for decades. The biggest difference this cycle was a Democrat was able to out-raise a Republican. That doesn't happen often. Money is a great equalizer in elections. And it shouldn't be.

It has been claimed that limiting money in a campaign is limiting free speech. Think this for a moment. The inevitable result of that line of thought is that those with the most money are the ones with the most influence. If you are fine with that, then you are probably also fine with Social Darwinism. And that is the attitude that energizes the ugly side of populism in this country.

The inexperienced, stupid 20-somethings who cleaned out their bank accounts to contribute to Obama won't be doing that next time around.

They were naive. They thought he was going to buy their gas and pay their mortgages. He was going to close GTMO (didn't happen), he was going to solve the Iran problem by "talking to them", he was going to end the Iraq War, it turned out Bush did that, he was going to give them socialized medicine, but they don't know what kind of f*cking they got on THAT deal yet.

He basically has done nothing but denigrate the US while running up massive debt for those kids to pay off.

Don't worry about the bar. Only idiots contributed to him last time, and they're going to think twice before doing it again.

>Although, I liked the fact that Obama was able to tap into the population to raise so much money

Not in the way we all think he did. He raised so much from people giving $1,000+. And those are still mostly the people he caters to.
