That's a fantastic bucket list. What a life you've had.

Mine is much simpler.

Work in the woods as a forester. Check. It wasn't what I thought it would be, though.

Raise a family and be proud of my kids as adults. Check. It wasn't easy, and at times I thought we failed.

Be married to one woman all my life. Check. Highs and lows.

Canoe down some rivers and lakes. Check. Not as many as I'd like. Nothing really spectacular, either.

Sail my canoe. half check. Got the rig cut out. Now I have to fit it to the canoe and sail her.

Build a log cabin. No check, just dreams. I've dreamed about the builders of many cabins I've found and explored. I know somebody who would teach me, if he lives long enough.

Live in a log cabin. No check. I've slept in lots of them though.

Hike in the wilderness. Check. Just not as much or as long as I'd like.

Woodworking, New Yankee Workshop style. No check, but I've dabbled.

Write a book. No check. I'm good at starting them, not finishing.

WOW SS! Fantastic bucket list.... Wish I had done the same thing....I think my list has been in my head, and like you and MM, some is checked, some is ongoing, and some probably won't be accomplished.

I'm more than a little impressed that you have done a documentary, and even more so since you did the whole thing! That's a WOW! And I'd love to see it, so will add that to my own bucket list.

Being the Editor of a new book coming out in May and published by a major Publisher has got to be just a thrill. Congratulations!!! And let us know when you can what it is, and all about it!

Loved the story about your winning Press picture, even if it was a difficult picture to take...The story behind the story is one I hope you wrote down someplace in addition to putting it here. Sounds like you have lots of material for your own book!

*

The one think I knew I wanted to have in life was a good marriage, several children, and a happy life. I should have asked for it to all be "Happy Ever After" but had to realize that Cinderella wasn't real. <gg> However, I did get my biggest wish, and do have all of the above, even if it takes work every single day. So this is a Check, but not taken For Granted.

Once the family had arrived, and very close together in age, we realized that both of us would have to work to get them all through College. He is still working beyond retirement age, and I had some jobs I liked, but eventually there came an opportunity to start a business of my own. Had never dreamed I could actually make a business work, but I knew if I worked hard, I had a chance. It did succeed, and was indeed nearly 23 years of a thrilling rollercoaster ride! Who knew I could make that happen....but have to say, lots of people gave their support and good wishes along the way, which helped immensely!...

I knew at 17 that I wanted to trace my ancestors, not only for the numbers/dates, but if I could find the info, what their lives were like and what they thought in letters, diaries, etc. Have always loved History, and researching these folks makes History come alive for me. I've worked on various lines for more than 35 years, and am still working, so that's a Check in Progress.

What I didn't know then was that all the massive info I've gathered would have to be compiled and put into some kind of readable format. In some cases, I've done that. In other cases, there is a long way to go. So like MM said, Half Check.

I wanted to see several spots in the world....Germany, Ireland, England, in fact, most of Europe, and Egypt, Australia, New Zealand. and as many States in the US as possible. No Check for any of Europe, and any of the other foreign ports above. Have seen a good deal of the US (except for the SouthEast), and Alaska and Hawaii. There is so much more to see in the US that I have to count that as a Half Check, with the hope that there will be more time and money to do that!

Did think we'd have trains all over the US that were clean and sleek, and fast like they do in Europe. So since we don't, that is a No Check.

Have added something over the years, that wasn't available to us years ago, and that is Travel Videos and programs. That goes for seeing the Universe as we know it as well. Had always wanted to be the 2nd woman on the moon (basic chicken so didn't want to be first....<ggg>) If I couldn't see a place in person, now we call it 3D, then I'd do it vicariously.

Didn't think I'd ever love to camp, but learned to do that, at least for a few days at a time, before a clean, fresh sheets and bed with a hot shower beckons me...

Never was much good at any sports except volley ball, and shooting a gun....not that I can call that a sport. But given some lessons, probably could be another Annie Oakley wantabee... Piece of a Check.

I too always wanted to write a book, but haven't taken any lessons on how to do that. But I do have a LOC behind the title page of a major family Genealogy Updated 5 Volume Book, and was totally blown away when I received the book. I was one of the three researchers for one of the Volumes who compiled the info for the Volume. Check. Have compiled info for 3 other books and had them printed....Two of those three are in one of the major Genealogy Libraries in Washington DC. Check.

The greatest thing about Dreams is that we all have them, and some of them actually have a chance of coming true if we wish and work hard enough! Hopefully, there will still be more years to get so many more things accomplished....for every one of us here!

<<I started a bucket list when I was around 18 after listening to a guy, whose name escapes me right now, talk about his list of the 100 things he wanted to do before he died. He wrote a book about it. His list was a little more ambitious than mine in that he wanted to get really good at everything he tried - he played professional football, boxed professionally, played on a major league baseball team, etc. Famous man, just can't remember his name right now.>>
