Z, > There are plenty of murders committed every day that no one stops. I'd still like to ask the government to do more about them.

The same can be said about poverty and "climate change."

How much of government is actually working toward solving these problems, and how much of it is wasted or actually exacerbating the problem?

Feel-good nonsense like spread the wealth programs is like airport security. Government acts like they're providing some service, but it turns out to be a complete waste.

”There are plenty of murders committed every day that no one stops. I'd still like to ask the government to do more about them.”

Murder is a relatively unstoppable crime once a heinous criminal has such an intention. In a culture where the sense of shared humanity has been sacrificed for government control, you could put a cop on every corner and see the frequency of murders increase. We are definitely moving in that direction with continued loss of community, degradation of values, and a growing sense of social isolation in our societies.
