Well... I had hoped 2010 would turn out to be a better year than 2009 (or 2008 for that matter). The way things are starting, it's not looking too great.

Lynne and I were out for a walk tonight with the dog. She caught her toe on an upraised sidewalk slab and went down. I thought initially it was face first but she turned and took the fall on her left hip. She wasn't able to walk at all, so I got her situated and ran home and got the car, and then off to the ER.

Just talked with the ortho guy. She fractured her hip, right below the ball of whatever bone it is that forms the ball in the hip socket. They're keeping her tonight and surgery tomorrow. The doc says a 19 out of 20 chance this will work. If not, she's going to have to have a hip replacement.

I'm home and just talked with her. She's in a fair amount of pain, which I hope they can get that under control.

Sheesh.
