You've been willing to accept even the most insane claims of jihadist on face value. Why is it that when it comes to Israel as one of their key motivations, you so easily dismiss it out of hand?

Incidentally, the Ottomans did not come to power for nearly 500 years after the demise of Khawarij. So their lack of "tolerance" for militant Islamism can't be a reason...not to mention the previous regimes were even less tolerant of militancy than Ottomans.

Now if you were to read Through Our Enemies' Eyes, you'd have a better idea.

It is not that I dismiss the role of demographics or the Saudi financing of Wahhabism. They are important factors. But they need to be taken in context of everything else.

So long as the root causes are not addressed, we'll be engaged in endless wars, which suites the military-industry complex just fine...war is a very profitable low risk business for many people. And so long as there is billions to be made every year from war, you can be sure there will be more wars.
