I'm trying to come up with a list to ask people that will provoke them into an intelligent discussion. I'm pretty convinced it might not work.

I tried What do you think of Obama bowing to the Saudi king and Japanese emperor. That elicited a shoulder shrug and a who cares? Bush did the same thing. Of course they were wrong but "heard" it somewhere.

What about trying the terrorists in NYC instead of a military tribunal? What's wrong with that? they ask. When I started to tell them why it wasn't a good idea and mentioned the $216 million it's going to cost, I got the old - that's not my problem. Let the people who know what they're doing handle it.

Mention healthcare and the answer is, "Nobody knows what the bill is going to look like yet, it's still being debated." Try and point out the bribes and purchased votes and it's not being "debated," I'm told I don't know what I'm talking about.

At least I've convinced my housekeeper to vote for whoever is running against Maxine Waters and to get all her family and friends to vote that way.
