Sid,
just guessing:
128 bit GX3 architecture for 2x AGP ==>160-180 3Dwinmarks -->500,000 triangles per sec.
Nvidia Riva 128 --> 450,000 triangles/sec.
Voodoo 2 --> 3 million triangles/sec.
TDDDF GLINT MX 1mm tgl/sec, 33mm pxl/sec, 2mm vector/sec 33mm bilinear pixel/sec, 16.5 trilinear pixels/sec.
3DLabs GLINT Delta 750k triangles/sec.
3DLabs GLINT 300SX 300k polygons/sec.
3Dlabs Permedia 2 1mm tgl/sec. (sampling at $35/10k lot: 14 design wins) 3D winmark of 131.

its hard figuring out which chip is best price/performance. 3D winmark is an average of several tests. i like the cNET test best (ran real games and measures frames per sec.)

The Vortex, i think, adds Faroudja tech on top of GX3. it doesn't increase 3D performance by itself.

The target is moving.

GX3 will not be able to sell for more than 3Dlabs Permedia 2 unless its capabilities are a lot stronger.

Voodoo2 is only big announcement in chip world this fall. i hope GX3 announces soon.

BL
