Well now I think you are making apple-orange comparisons. 25% in the Great Depression didn't include "discouraged workers" Maybe the rate then was much higher when such a category is added in. Let's say for arguments sake the real unemployment rate during the GD was 35% and now it's 20%....so still not as bad as the GD.
