Funny enough, I've heard almost these exact words apply to Americans for electing Bush on a second term...

It's true, whether we like it or not.

HOWEVER, the President is not all-powerful. We elect Representatives every two years, and our Senators every six. So there is PLENTY of opportunity for the American people, as they did last night in Massachusetts, to effect political change.

Our leaders FOLLOW THE POLLS (maybe too much), whereas in Gaza, I dare say the government creates the polls (or at least suppress those they find unfavorable).

Big difference.
