sometimes you are so smart and sometimes you make little sense. My comment was not offensive except to you. You think only you know poverty. The poor need to be helped. If you do not want help fine. But most poor people worry about money, finding rent money and they would greatly appreciate a society that would help pay (or jsut pay as I would advocate)for their kids to go to college, or help a mother buy food for their kids. That is what dems have always done. FDR saved the poor and that is why the dems controlled congress for most of the next 50 years and FDR won four terms. In the early 1900's abject poverty was the norm becuase the rich ruled like feudal lords and it was ugly. Feudal lords were usually ugly. Especially for the kids. That is who the right wing represents the feudal lords. My mother grew up in abject poverty and told me about it every day. And Eleanor Roosevelt was her hero because she fought for the poor, and Marian Anderson because she stood up for dignity.
