Maurice, with all the help from US it is expected that Israel has a great GDP. Without US help, it would flounder and be outcast by the world community. What you see is an illusion created by the US, and the illusion is only as good and as long as the US can feed, defend and shield Israel from the world community. On the other hand, Iran with all its warts has a highly sophisticated culture and quite an intellectual capacity, they are self sufficient and don't have to rely on hand-outs to sustain themselves. They are wheeling and dealing on the international stage signing contracts with Russia, China and Western European countries. The country will flourish with or without US sanctions. Matter of fact the US would benefit if it aligned with Iran, far more benefit than carrying the torch for Israel that results in no returns or benefits.
