Soviets used to give brutal sentences for "economic crimes", up to and including death penalty. Result - they never even made a dent in the "underground economy". Just look at our "war on drugs" - similar result. Those who actually defraud Medicare today will continue to do so, even "post-reform". Will be the same old "catch 'em if you can". Whatever additional savings they can get probably won't even pay for their effort and for the increased workforce. What I said contains nothing new.... everyone can smell that claiming to pay for a significant part of the program by fighting fraud is ridiculous. Mr. Obama would be smart not to discredit himself by making such claims.
