I've spent most of my time at the beach at either Assateage Island (the National Seashore Park just south of OC) or in Rehoboth (a beach town in DE that is considerably smaller than OC). I can fully understand the appeal of the boardwalk for kids. When we'd camp at Assateage we'd always go into town for a night or two of walking the boards. There was something just so wonderful and fun about the whole thing even though it can be such an artificial environment in comparison to the stark expanse of beach in the National Seashore. I loved the contrast. As a photographer, I found both places equally interesting to photograph.

Isn't that the truth about pizza there versus here? We've not been able to find anyplace a pizza that was like it is back there...Hubby thinks it is the cheese that makes the difference. A few years ago, he even tried to order some from Buffalo and have them send it out here...<ggg> Seriously did. But we found the original owner had died, and never did give the recipe to the family. His niece and her family now run the restaurant. She said theirs is good, but not the same.

But then we have something here they don't have....French dip sandwiches here, and in the 60's they'd never heard of them. The closest I could get was roast beef on Kimmelwick (sp)...no aujus, but a sort of gravy if I wished...<gg> Another thing is our Dungeness Crab....They have a different crab, but honestly there is NOTHING like the Dungeness...That's what makes it fun to travel. Each area in the country has its specialities!

And ohhhhhhhhh the pizza. Haven't been able to find real pizza out here on the west coast....not at all like the pizza of NY, NJ, or MD
