Representatives work better, IMO. The "people too often devolve into mob psychology. 96% of teh peopl were against letting Jewish orphans into the country when Hitler was killing their parents.

The south would still have segregations if not for congressional action.

If we do everything by direct vote we will get mediocre ideas. We are supposed to be voting in leaders smarter than we are on average.
