Kate, I was an undergrad econ major. I left it because the macro stuff I liked doing meant living in the city and I wasn't willing to pay that price. I wouldn't place too much weight on anything you read in my posts. I do agree with your assessment that we'll have to sacrifice and work our way out of this. It won't be the end of life as we know it and who knows, it might be healthy to reorder our priorities and examine whether continued growth and an increasing standard of living are really critical for a nation of people with roofs over their heads, food to eat and, maybe someday, widespread health care.
