Well, just from a techno-challenged person, the best argument against the SYQT and Shark products are the incompatibility with IOM products. Since IOM is already out there with 9 or 10 million zips and I don't know how many jaz drives, how can they ever hope to make that up. I looked at the Shark product this weekend and it is impressive and tempting. But so what? Everybody I work with has zip or jaz. My firm has 14 jaz drives. I don't get it.

To all fellow Syquest bashers . . .

Remember, the shareholder vote is this Friday. Shareholders will be able to ask management some serious questions regarding the viability and necessary dilution of their stock.

Look for massive dumping of the stock on Monday.

It'll be hard for Syquest to dodge piercing questions from otherwise intelligent investors.

It'll be fun watching the stock go back to $1.

One more point:

Iomega WILL bring down the price of discs in the not so distant future. But it will NOT be because of Syquest.

They will lower prices as they compete in the entire disc drive category. As WDC and SEG lower the cost per meg of hard drives, Iomega will have to follow suit eventually. Otherwise, the disparity will be too great to justify.

Keep in mind your experiences at the supermarket. Ever buy a can of tomato sauce? There's Hunt's. And there's generic. Both have a market. However, Hunt's never lowers their price to compete with generic. They sell on quality. And, they sell A LOT.

Syquest (or some other generic brand) will always have a place in the market. So what? They will never impact Iomega's top line. And, only forces much greater than Syquest could impace their bottom line. And, with cost improvements, even this will be minimal.

Onward, and upward, ho Iomega!!!
