Patents are given to inventors, discoverers, and innovators ... you don't have to create something de novo to get a patent. One could claim that every idea has existed in God's mind before yet when a person comes up with it, under our law he's entitled to patent protection for that idea for a certain period. What is patentable is a matter of law and patents are temporary. US law protected patent rights for plant varieties developed by conventional plant breeding before direct genetic engineering was developed. There's little reason to see why newer technologies should be treated differently.

So basically you're saying domesticated animals and plants are not gods creation any more.

Everything is God's creation, including us, but we recognize that humans have property rights including intellectual property rights.

So you can own a breed or species of animal or plant?

You can have patent protection for 18 years on plant varieties. Not sure about animals. We do recognize animals as property so perhaps.

You'll have to read up on it if you want to have an informed opinion...

I think you should read something besides leftwing pap ... you don't seem to know much about the subject of patents.
