<... you don't seem to know much about the subject of patents.>

Poppycock... I was a biotech analyst for years. I know all about the legal "wording" that allows companies to claim ownership of DNA in my and your body.

It's YOU who know nothing. That entire post was driveling wishywashy generalities that doesn't deal with the issue AT ALL.

This is a very controversial area that is likely to get overturned i the future... in fact many governmental authorities world wide are already claiming they will ignore it FWIW.

<There's little reason to see why newer technologies should be treated differently.>

This is NOTHING LIKE drugs OR software or other high tech IP.

Your silly babble about "liberal" simply tells of YOUR own problem with the issue. You want to be on "your teams side" despite clear moral and ethical problems with being there (in this case). Period.

You still avoid a straight answer to the question, so let's hear it:

When you can explain ethically how a company should be awarded a patent for a piece of DNA in your body you let us all know.

In the mean time, as we can now see you weren't even aware that DNA could be patented and yet felt compelled to opine about the science of GMO vs FDA approval.

I have a feeling (understatement) you're really just about "going along with a crowd" than about science. Probably shows why you're a "closet bible literalist".... dance the creationist dance at one party and try and dance the scientific dance at another... all in the name of fitting in rather than any real seeking of the truth.
