I am using democracy in a vague sense. Remember 50 years ago how suppressed people were in Russia and China for instance.

Today they have at least a version of google and interaction with the world both through trade, travel and the internet. And often function with a form of democracy at the local levels. Communism is dead and eventually democracy will be inevtiable for the entire world.

So today, both China and India are educating many more people than we are. China is graduating 5 times as many engineers and India 10 times as many. India has made the export of doctors and scientists a business.

Education is the key to everything.

Democracy is for countries with majority middle class. Well fed, children at school.

Elites love the docile pliable middle class that were made out of former poor people via social mobility.
