When it comes to LASIK, you must feel like you are trying to hold back the tide. Have you seen the stats and projections for use of this procedure? The question becomes - How soon will it replace the standard PRK.

Hey Nanny,

Are the shorts following you here??

The targert market of SNRS covers the 31% of the population over age 40 in the Americas and Western Europe with simple hyperopia (between +0.75 and +2.50). This includes more than 200 million people! At $100 per procedure, the potential market totals $40 billion, excluding revenues from laser system sales! Not to mention the market potential of the presbyopes from -0.25 to 0.75! And the possibility of hearing loss correction by shrinking the Tympanic membrane.

NO WAY THAT LASIK CAN OR WILL TARGET THESE MARKETS!!!

Lasik has its own market niche which is primarily myopes, especially the higher ones and I strongly doubt people under +2.50(+3.50 and higher eventually) will opt for Lasik when they can have the Holmium done for 1/3 the cost and with minimal invasiveness!! Most of the hyperopes in the world are within these parameters--ask any eye physician. There are many many more myopes over 3.50 than hyperopes! Let's face the facts, LASIK is primarily a nearsighted procedure and that will be at least 80-90% of their market share! Common sense will prevail here!

The shorts will get caught with their pants down!
