1995: Ambassador of Brazil to Indonesia surprised me: The Hegelian nation-state is dead! Did they know something that I did not? I had already thought about the nation-state being transformed. But here was a man whose function was to represent the nation-state stating that it was dead!! I started paying attention. Yes, the Brazilians that change the game mid 90s had already sensed the winds turning but had never stated that to the populace. Perhaps because the Brazilian nation-state was not successful as the other nation-states they could sense and change to fit the new environment. I am still with my ear to the ground. Perhaps those Tea party guys are already part of the camp who sensed the nation-state crumbling
