Since that intitial visit to the emergency room my wife has seen a very competent back surgeon.

He explained that she might need spinal surgery but in her case epidural shots might relieve her pain and allow her to resume a normal life so we went with the epidural shots.

She had the first shot and it helped her greatly. THEN, we get a call saying the insurance company wants more "background" stuff or something. We said the Doctors know more about it than my wife does.

Here's the TRICKY thing. I know these shots can really help my wife so I said what if we just ignore the insurance company and pay for the shots ourselves? She said the "Doctor" charges about $600 to $700 for the shots. I said then O.K., so maybe we just do this on our own. She said, well the hospital is also involved since the doctor is affiliated with the hospital so THEY charge around $2000 a shot.

WHAT'S the hospital charging for. This is just LUNACY and if folks like us with a few bucks available get run around like this I can't imagine what everybody else is putting up with.

And my father who has Medicare underwent Angioplasty. The charge for one Tylenol, which I witnessed he was given, was $30. They also gave him a Sprite and Medicare was billed $20.

Medicare is our money and I don't care if the folks call Obama socialist as long as he clamps down on such waste of our taxpayer dollars. That Tylenol should be 5 cents and Sprite 1.50. Period.
