Yes, when the price of people is low, it's a bad scene. Having high value people is much nicer.

So-called safety has a cost in human lives. Money can be spent either on crash fire services at airports where it will probably never be needed, or on hospitals or medicines for sick children. It's either or.

Apart from the cost of the safety, I have found that it's safer to not have the accident and all the safety muck actually causes accidents [can't hear because of the crash helmet, get hot and careless]. Hidebound rules don't make safety. Situation awareness and intelligent use of safety equipment and processes is where safety lies.

Mostly, safety is just an excuse for more rules by the authorities who love any excuse for making more rules and bossing people about.
