As an American living in Germany, i can assure you that education is not priority number one for Germans. The local public elementary school has 32 kids per classroom. The lack of funding cannot be explained by low taxes.

If i had a Euro for every utterance of shock and surprise from another expat that the average American suburban school is much better than the local offering of private or public schools, i would be rich.

Things may have been different 50 years ago.

You report that Japanese are enthusiasts for education of their children. I'm sorry, genuinely sorry to say that that is wrong.
First, Japanese are not enthusiasts for the education of their
daughters since no kind of decent job awaits women in Japanese society. Second, for males, it's the degree that counts not the education. Boys, straining for good marks in high school, can
finally relax when they enter university. University life in Japan is mainly socializing, athletic clubs etc.
According to my personal contacts among Chinese people,
you should replace "Japanese" by "Chinese".
Your statement about Swedes and Danes is 100% correct.

You did not answer my question. It was specific.

Instead your reply was a deflection a diversion, into more broad based generalities.

Your a nice enough fella, so dont take it personally....but your confused, having read many posts its clear that you mis charachterize what constitutes a good education, by projecting favorable outcomes to categories like; well at least they graduated; according to that sum of folks, the false sense of reality that they are better than another sum of folks, who may have elected different options in full awareness of the product of the first choice..

Please, educational programming isnt education. To be wise enough to understand this, is a matter of choice.

stratification of categorical outcomes is useful to society, it helps organize productive enterprise.

But make no mistake....anyone who fails to understand; that upon graduation, your education just begins....is just a fool.

This troubles most; but explains why so many opt into a compartmentalist life, where their own safety and well being can be sustained without the rigor or compulsion of backtesting any or all of thier degree producing programming.

Essentially this is the essence of status quo, it enables the tenure system. Gives graduates a false belief in the programming they have just received, it facilitates assigning them to the competing closets among the hallowed halls of Dumb and Dumber.
