To reward the GOP with control of the houses re-enforces their shitty political tactics and invites the same from the dems next time around. Furthermore, the president could only serve as a limited check on a GOP unwilling to work on the big issues. For instance, during the last 70 years, whenever the GOP has been in power they have ignored critical issues like health care...
The people of the nation can move the political agenda without putting in power a far worst political movement than the one there now. See below...

Obama announces loan guarantees for nuke plant
AP

By JULIE PACE, Associated Press Writer Julie Pace, Associated Press Writer – 15 mins ago

LANHAM, Md. – President Barack Obama is making roughly $8 billion in federal loan guarantees available to help build the first U.S. nuclear power plant in three decades.

Discussing a plant envisioned for Burke County, Ga., Obama told a union audience Tuesday that the initiative will create thousands of construction jobs and 800 permanent jobs. He called it "only the beginning" of efforts to develop "safe, clean" energy-efficient technologies.

Obama has been arguing that the country must develop cleaner energy technologies and modernize the means by which it powers itself. At the same time, he has said that policymakers must not conclude they have to choose between a cleaner environment and sufficient energy supplies to meet demand.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

The only time in my life that I've seen a US government hitting on all cylinders and working properly for the people was during the Clinton Administration when the GOP had control of Congress. I've often floated the idea that our government works best when no single party is in control of both Congress and the White House.

I have posted hundreds of times that a divided government is superior to single party rule. This is equally true regardless of party. I was upset for several years over Dan Young and Ted Stevens setting spending policies. Also President Bush 43's failure to veto any Republican spending bill was irresponsible.

Of course I never would have imagined that they would look fiscally conservative in comparison the the Obama / Pelosi Administration.

I still think Obama is the best possible man out of all the candidates on both the left and right to be President.

Of the four people on the ballot in 2008, it is clear to quite a large number of Americans that the most qualified was the VP candidate on the losing ticket. Could you post a copy of Obama's college writing to allow me to assess his supposed intelligence? If he is so smart why did he need an admitted terrorist to write his book for him?

maybe it would be a very good thing if the GOP takes control of both houses in November. My thought is this. If Obama ever starts to tack to the center ... maybe the outcome is more centrist and less extreme. (fixed)

I would agree with the that with your unintentional misstatement is corrected.

Maybe we'll get incremental progress on things we care about like drilling for more oil, more nuke power, more renewable energy. Maybe we'll get small incremental steps toward cutting down on health care costs. And maybe we'll get broad cooperation between the GOP and Obama on cutting down the deficit, like we did when Gingrich and Clinton got us to surpluses.

All of those would be nice. They could start be allowing interstate sales of health insurance. Increasing our domestic production of energy of all kinds will reduce the trade deficit. Reducing the budget deficit will become increasingly vital.

So contrary to popular Democratic thoughts that a loss in November could be catastrophic for the country, I'm thinking that it may be just what the doctor ordered, considering that we'd still have Obama as President to veto any crazy ...

If only we had someone vetoing crazy stuff now. Even an obstructionist Senate blocking socialists from appointed positions would be nice.

So my thoughts do not yet extend to a desire to vote for a GOP member for President, unless we get surprised and a non-Palin candidate shows up.

Over Obama, Palin would stand head and shoulders. The fact that people feel it necessary to destroy her should tell you they fear her. If your beliefs about her abilities were reconcilable with how the democrat leadership and the liberal media really feel about her they would not fear her nor feel the need to destroy her.

I doubt if she will be the 2012 candidate. If Obama is on the ballot democrats are likely to lose the Presidency. His abject failure of an administration has perpetrated a future catastrophe. In 2012 it is likely that Republicans will again control the Presidency and both houses of Congress. We both seem to agree that single party rule is bad.

So thoughts everyone? Let me have it, but keep the flames to a minimum. I'm just throwing it out there to see if there are merits to the idea.

When you post like that, don't expect any flames from me. That sounds like the mantle of moderate is starting to fit.
