>>ASND is are shifting about $10 million in revenues from the first quarter of 1998 to the third and fourth quarters of 1998. >>
<< Why didn't they move any to the second quarter?>>

1) They want to smooth their quarterly revenue going forward and increase their backlog.

2) It could also be that one of their customers, like NTT, wants a
slower implementation schedule, so ASND is adjusting.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with an acquisition price
target.

blankmind - you sez <it is obvious, to push the price low enough so asnd can be a takeover target.>

forgive me for being thick <g>, I do not follow the logic. While it is not scientific, a lot of time takeover is done not b/c the stk price is lo (unlike us bottom feeders;) instead, there is something to acquisiting co wants from the acquisitee.

otherwise, someone would ve bot out Gandolf, Madgf, CTYS...etc by now.

This is the first time I can recall any one commenting about a CEO purposely moving the price of a stock down to achieve a strategic goal. Like let's drive it down from 40 to 24 so we can get a buyout at 36?

And 10M is going to have a significant impact?

The thing about these earnings projections that bother me is that while they have hinted that the first month is better, than that bad one they had in July, they have also hinted that they are not back end loaded. This would translate to me either as a change in sales practices or a recognition that the last part of this qtr is not going to be as historically strong. Neither of which will be good news for this qtr. So it would seem to me that pushing revenue to the next qtr out will either support what may be another weak qtr, or an attempt to show greater greater than expected earnings the next qtr. So overall I am worried that share price absaent a takeover will not recover for awhile.

If it gets much lower, maybe the people on this thread can buy enough shares to take ASND over. It may not be a good financial move, but at least we could fire Mory!
Thank God I'm down to only 200 shares on this DOG ( that's almost an insult to real DOGS ).
