You're telling me Safari running on a zillion-core megabuck MacPro does NOT have hardware accel for HTML5 video...?

Thanks for finding that and posting it. Good to know. Since that would be determined on the client side, I'm sure it will change, going forward.

Actually I would not worry too much about anything yet as HTML5 is still being worked on so a lot of things could change with the final release. Now if the final release requires a new computer and a GPU to run decently, then it will be a problem IMO.
