So I infer that from a moral perspective you think that an elderly person living off dividends paid on savings from a lifetime's work as a carpenter should pay the same or more in taxes than a current carpenter earning an equal income in wages.

Jeez Lane it should (and does) depend on their tax bracket... but not on the type of income. If your idea is to cut taxes for retired people then just do it.

You are really good at the false dilemma thing.
