Cliff Kalista of the Pennsylvania Merchant Group voiced concern that one of Cymer's arch rivals was on the verge of introducing a competitive ultraviolet laser that would cost 40 percent less.

Yessiree - those ever-cost-cutting fabs are just going to jump on whatever components are the cheapest. You know, it just doesn't pay to pay more for a proven fab component - after all - you only get some $1 Million/hr cost in lost production if the fab line goes down... Might as well skimp as much as you can. So if a Cymer laser is $10 M, and the competition is $6 M, you would have to think that the former will stay on line for at least four more hours (over the entire life cycle of the laser) than the competition in order to justify the higher cost. Does one think that INTC, for example, will make such a rash assumption?

Looking at the stock price action, I guess the Street thinks not.

Bummer.

Tulvio: I got a postive reply from one of my emails. The person said
he met with Cymer and agrees with most of what my email stated.

"We will initiate coverage of Cymer with a positive report -- I met with them
at SEMICON Southwest and came away agreeing with most of what you spoke of in
your e-mail."

Tulvio - Don't know if this is what they're talking about, but it could be: (By the way, I DON'T think this refers to JMAR.)
