I do agree with much of what you say. It's one of the primary reasons why I didn't vote for Bush the second time around, even though I voted for him in 2000. It's also the reason I voted for Obama. I thought he'd be different, but on many things, he's a lot like Bush.

On health care, though, I disagree with you a little bit. The health care bill Obama is proposing could be a windfall for health insurance companies. Although it has some things in it that will decrease their profits, the bottom line is that they get 30 million new customers. So what they lose in margins, they make up for in volume.

Honestly, the bill is so complex, no one really understands it. I think the GOP may be correct in saying that we need to break it apart and pick out the good things in it and pass those a bit at a time. That way, at least we can all understand what we're getting. I don't believe in starting over completely like Cantor and McConnell are saying. But I do believe in disaggregating that monster bill and choosing the good parts.
