Last week, I was the subject of some of that "defensive medicine" you have heard so much about. After a week of flu like symptoms, I made an appointment with my primary care doctor. I got right in on 3 hours notice. They spent one and half hours with me, did an EKG and blood draw and concluded I had a virus. It was all paid for by Medicare. Was this some of the much criticized "defensive medicine"? Wouldn't it have been done anyway?

My house burning down might not be my fault either. Its not a matter of fault, its a matter of not being able to ensure against something that's already happened.

The house burning down as relates to the house being insured deals with an object not a person.

Irrelevant in terms of how insurance works. You insure against risks, it doesn't matter if its a person or an object.
