That's a fear, NOT a fact

You've got to trust someone out there when you don't have all the facts yourself and I trust Windows Secrets Newsletter to give me the straight stuff. If they say malware can disrupt the coding (don't know if that's the proper term here) of my license and screw with my computer I will delay using the WAT until the time comes that I have to or they slip it into my computer some other way. I normally download and install almost all updates from Microsoft but I am passing on this one until a later date.

I notice Malwarebytes is missing from your list. You might give it a try. It's a highly respected program. I've used it cleaning up several nasty rogue programs and it seems to be very good.
