Sankar - Re: "Do you see the price going below $70 if SE-Asian jitters unnerve the Wall Street again?"

Yes, this could happen. Everybody will be looking at the holiday sales of PCs using the most powerful microscope they can find.

One hint of "light demand" for PCs could send Intel and the PC industry into a nose dive. This exact same scenario happened during the 1995 Christmas Holiday season and extended through the spring of 1996.
This year will be worse with a "new" sub $1000 PC categrory for analysts to focus on.

Couple this with the South East Asia economic/currency problems, and you have a real bumpy road ahead.

Intel's stock is cyclical and Intel's business is cyclical.

But Intel is in the game full time, 100%.

Following this current cycle, you noted the new business opportunities that lie ahead for Intel. It may take a while to get there, but I'm sure we will.

Paul

I think that INTC's price could very well go below $70, possibly even down to or just below $60, but I would not expect it to stay that low unless there is a repeat of last Monday that is deeper and sustained. The fact that the small investor held on so well reduces the chances of that happening -- the post mortem of last Monday's crash is making the small investor look great and the MM's who sold look like fools and amateurs.
