Longer movies.........................

digitaltheater.com

Comline Electronics Wire via Individual Inc. -- Even classics four hours long can be
viewed without interruptions for changing CDs... MemoryTech, a company financed in
equal parts by Mitsubishi , Ponycanyon, and Tokyo Denka, will begin producing
a two-layer one-sided DVD on Nov. 1. It can hold nearly twice the information on a
conventional one- layer DVD. Two disks can be attached to each other back-to-back
successfully so as to allow the laser to track directly from one to the next. This means
the disk can be loaded and read completely without turning it over. This allows much
longer works, like long movies, to be recorded on a single disk. In usual movies, the
maximum length of recording on a disk is limited to 133 minutes, but this is increased to
240 minutes on a double disk. The price will be held to 1.5 times that of standard
single-side disks.
