The Dems already lost the propaganda war. No need to cry over spilled milk. Believe it or not, I've been in this situation before. I've had projects go south on me where everyone doubted we should move forward. In the end, I always told them the same thing. Let me finish it. We're almost there. If we quit now, we have nothing. If we finish after all this effort, then we'll see where the chips fall. After the projects get done, everyone celebrates and then the miracle comes. EVERYONE ALWAYS FORGETS THE BAD PARTS. I don't know why this happens, but it is a darned reliable aspect of human nature. All they will remember come November is that the Dems accomplished something.

In fact, if you want a good recent example, look at the Medicare Prescription Drug plan. Even the GOP was surprised at how popular that thing became, even though they had to struggle mightily to get it passed.
