BJP, I think that people will find a need for higher speed chips. people doing word processing certainly won't, but your other examples certainly will. (a) people playing games---Games have always found a way to use up all the processing power. There is no question about that. Graphics quality in games is currently limited because the conventional ways of presenting graphics are as 3d or a group of texture-wrapped polygons. These require huge amounts of power to redraw... (c) The internet, remember, is really something that has come about in the last 2 years. While bandwidth problems will first need to be solved, there will, I'm sure, be applications that need every bit of processing power they can get. Have you thought about full screen streaming video, virtual kiosks, etc? But in all fairness, until these things are a reality and mainstream, people will have no reason to buy more than a $1299 P200. But I guess they are anyway, because GTW's sales and average selling price (well over $2K, I think) are facts. Brian

bjp, The issue is GTW needed a sub 1000 set of pc's . their WS and server has to go overseas first. I'm buying allot of pc's , just need p166 and p200 for 90% of employees and my advanced relational database apps run on those, including rf data collection, touchscreen data collection, edi, internet, intranet, extranets,groupware, buyer stations.. I only need p266 for engr's and power users. At home it's become everything to family, parents doing work, kids doing homework, internet, investment knowledge as well as the stuff you mentioned. Home needs maybe one super pentium then the other 1 or 2 can be cpq's $799 p180 loaded pc. I think we are saying close to same thing but you don't seem to be saying allot of the keywords someone that was realy doing this stuff would say. It's simple...gtw's ws AND server CAN'T CRACK usa. THEY HAVE TO GO OVERSEAS. Then they need a selction of low cost home pcs. by the way, the cyrx chip does video well enough and cpq now has a p166 MMX pc for sub 1000.
