I think it's interesting that this happened just as the Supreme Court has provided greatly increased financial clout in the political arena to immense financial interests such as the insurance industry. This is scary not just because of their financial power but also because they're probably the most adept Madison Avenue spinners on the planet. It will be interesting to see how they use this skill and power in the upcoming elections.

I would not be surprised to see SC nominations and confirmations become even more politicized than in the past. Lots of money will now flow into attempts to keep the United Citizens decision on the books.

Obama was elected on a tangible list of things he promised to do for the middle class, things they really needed and really worried about in their daily lives. He will be re-elected or not based on how well he delivered on their expectations.

His approval ratings are running a bit ahead of Reagan in March 1982.
