Ted, I have no idea what the Buteyko Method is or how much research is actually behind it.

The FDA is responsible for approving all of this stuff. Doctors are obligated to go with the FDA recommendations. Same with pharmacists and other health care providers. Same with insurance companies.

I don't doubt the gist of your point, that Big Pharma's influence is all over the place, from doctors to patients to even the FDA. But to connect them with the FDA's reluctance to approve holistic treatments is ludicrous.

P.S. - Looking up Wikipedia's entry on the Buteyko Method, it doesn't look like there is much domestic research on it:

There are 35 studies in Russia, but only six in the West.

Is relaxation therapy a significant part of BM? I note your mention of anxiety attacks.
