You might want to look at the segment of the US population who does not comprehend evolution to clarify your thinking. Hint: It is in fact the religious, and yes, they are somewhat anti-intellectual.

I think science and religion and culture are converging so fast thanks to the internet. Nothing is certain but uncertainty. Lots of crackpots coming unglued.

You are reading something into my statement that isn't there, and attributing it to me.

Life for me is a search for the truth. It's all about balance. Science takes us part of the way, religion can help fill in the gaps. To look at the stars through a high powered telescope begs the question of higher life forms, a much higher intelligence than our pathetically tiny brains are capable of understanding. There is so much beauty in this universe that it probably isn't random.

Science and Religion can coexist and be in harmony, but many religious people don't think so. They insist on denying the truth, which earns them my disdain. What kind of fool thinks a scientist couldn't have built the universe?

rootwad, there is no way around it - believing that life spontaneously combusted from the absence of life is a faith based belief.

everything every witness by mankind in all of human history indicates that this simply does not happen.

many religious folks are anti-intellectual, but that reflects on the people, not proper religion.

you'd thin and intellectual would get that point. -lol-

then again, many people get anti-intellectual defending their bureaucracy or ideal of choice. it seems to be a human trait.

i was slandered today in a very anti-intellectual way by a guy who is usually very intellectual. emotions must have blinded him based upon something prior occurring in his life.

it happens.

Religious belief and intellectual pursuits are not mutually exclusive.

Delve deep enough into quantum physics and one starts to believe in God.
