Well, we don't use a true majority rule.

Actually I get that.. electoral college and all.. and representative votes etc.. It seems though that much more of your populace does not get that than ours.. Then again I live in a country where 38% popular vote can theoretically get you a majority in parliament .... I've seen a few under 40% at any rate...

we like to bitch about it too though... just less :O)

That was the gist of my earlier post.. democracy is not necessarily majority rule.. your proposition votes (referenda) do that.. but they can be scary :O) Like our referendum (neverendum) on Quebec separation...
