What I find amazing is that he believes he can get anywhere with the Arabs. All he has to show for that belief is an expanding war.

I knew going in he disliked Israel. What I find amazing is that he believes he can get anywhere with the Arabs. Maybe he thinks that the USA can't solve an age old problem in a distant foreign land, so he's just looking to pass the buck off to someone else.

I knew going in he disliked Israel. What I find amazing is that he believes he can get anywhere with the Arabs. He believes it because he's a fool who sucked in Rashid Khalidi's picture of Mideast conflict caused by Israeli intransigence. I wonder if the reaction he got from Egypt and Saudi Arabia dented his certainties, even a little. But it doesn't matter. Leftists have simply adopted the Arab view of the Mideast. They believe in a "single payer" solution for Mideast conflict - Israel pays for all. After all, Israel is the "white" "Western" party, so it is the aggressor by definition. If Obama manages to beat Israel into disgorging the West Bank and dividing Jerusalem (he has no clue how unlikely this is), he will reckon it a good deed, and not really care about the war that comes afterwards. The war can and will be blamed on the Israelis not withdrawing properly or not opening borders, just as the missiles from Gaza have been. Naturally, since the missiles were Israel's fault, so to are the "war crimes" of the Gaza war. Multi-culturalists feel they have a moral duty never to place blame on Arabs. Never. It's Orientalist, verboten.
