Let's not be fooled by this. They are good places at the whim of their tyrants, who make alot of money off Westerners (and labor from all outsiders that the local rulers don't want to do themselves, or don't have the expertise to do themselves) thinking they are having a good run of it in exotic places working for exotic people.


Sounds like you don't approve of them. Remember, both countries are creations of the West (the UN system of world governance combined with British colonial influence). If the region was left to its own to develop without Western influence, neither country would exist. Saudi Arabia would have gobbled up the UAE a long time ago.
