I have never cooked with a pressure cooker...what is the advantage?

Use the pressure cooker all the time. I really advocate soaking/sprouting most anything you boil these days. I even discovered a way to make perfect al dente pasta in 90 seconds. When I leave for work in the morning, I set up penne pasta soaking. When I come home, I make the sauce. Pour the water off the soaked noodles, toss a little oil on, and throw them in the microwave for about 90 seconds. They will cook that quickly, and as an added bonus it is impossible to overcook them. They absorb just the right amount of water, and no amount of extra cooking can lead to soggy, overcooked noodles since there is no extra water for them to absorb. Give it a shot sometime. Saves a ton of energy and time.
