Its not just results or ideology. Its how much the person in question is responsible for those results. I'd probably give Clinton a bit more credit than Peter, but not as much as you.

The fact that someone is president and something good happens, doesn't mean the president made things better. The fact that someone is president and something bad happens doesn't mean the president made things worse. They typically get way too much credit or blame for what happens when they are in office, while the role of congress, of previous government decisions, and of non-government factors gets downplayed.

You could have been writing that about yourself. I am judging results. Having been studying economics for several decades I look beyond the short time horizon. That is why I can see the long term effects of the Reagan tax cuts while you focus on the short time horizon and add in responsibility for Tip O'Neil's excesses to boot.
