Reading the last few paragraphs of the article in Newsweek, you just have to wonder if Obama would have the guts to do what Reagan did? He let the Iranians know we meant what we said, and would do what we said we would do if they crossed the line. They did, and Reagam reinforced that his word was his bond. We need more of those statesmen and stateswomen today. eightiesclub.tripod.com Newsweek was always the most liberal of the 3 magazines (Time and US News were the other two main ones back then)....It would be an interesting comparison to compare the Newsweek of the 1980's with today's Newsweek. Probably, the Newsweek of 1987 would look quite conservative by comparison today....
