Mish: As one stuck in Europe, I have to say the response of the EU to this event is sad or pathetic. No flying, no information when flights resume. In terms of public unions, it is interesting that the French Railway union chose to strike at this time over pension benefits so it is difficult to get to airports south of France to fly out. What a clear example of why public unions should be outlawed. Once they amass too much power and political connectivity, they can and do strike with impunity. Unfortunately this makes it very difficult to get around and try to return home.
