Sonki, re: "i hope intel does not pull what ibm did 10yrs ago. ibm went from 200 all the way to 40 and took 10yrs to break even and missed the whole bull market. i m sure 10 yrs ago ibm was a great company and monopoly and all."

I don't know where you were 10 years ago when IBM started to tank, but I was right in the middle of it, working at an IBM S390 compatible company (still do). The IBM situation was far different from Intel today. Back then there was histeria that the PC and client/server workstations etc. was going to take away IBM's mainframe business. All of it. It didn't, but for a few years, mainframe sales went way down because of the perception, hurting IBM and us big time. Even if the MIS director/VP recommended a mainframe, the CEO said "what about these other smaller, cheaper computers." End of potential sale. When this happens for several years, you hurt bad.

I don't think there is any such perception today about PCs being replaced with something else. Intel may need to come up with a chip to allow sub 1K PCs, but they can do that. All else is concerns about earnings upcoming Q's, Kurlak, IMO.

Another thing, IBM was considered to be a "bloated elephant" 10 years ago. Intel is still as lean and mean as they come.

Like you say, patience is it.

Tony

Sonki, yes, you told me about CNC. Make sure you get in Travelers too as long as you are buying those. It is ins. and fin.

Bruce Francis just discussed Intel on Bull Session. His guest said anyone that is buying Intel now will be very happy in 5 years. I want to be happy now. gg. But I guess I will have to get more again. It is pretty low now. I will wait for A.G. conf.call though.

BTW, Brian was right on target with 5% on the day of the earnings announcement from Cisco at one point today. Not as crazy as you thought. gg.
