<Bruno was tortured and murdered because he rejected obvious fallacies in church doctrine in favor of Copernican science.>

As were many others... of course the "rabid religionists in denial" twist and torture the truth by claiming such silly things as "Oh, he wasn't a "scientist"?!"

Out of the other side of their mouths they claim early church memebers WERE scientists and contributed to science (true enough in some cases)...

The modern version seen right here CONSTANTLY is to use (twist) science and scientists to claim things those very people wouldn't. Sick.

Such obvious hypocrisy.

Bruno was wrongly tortured and murdered. But he was charged with heresy:

Bruno was not condemned for his defence of the Copernican system of astronomy, nor for his doctrine of the plurality of inhabited worlds, but for his theological errors, among which were the following: that Christ was not God but merely an unusually skillful magician, that the Holy Ghost is the soul of the world, that the Devil will be saved, etc.

No Christian or rational person could take any point of view promulgated by the Catholic church as anything but a politicized view. In Brumar89's case I don't see how he can justify being Catholic and an American. It just doesn't make sense.
