"They both proclaimed themselves scientific" Marxism and Nazism proclaimed nothing. They are not people. They are political philosophies. Science is using experimentation to verify hypotheses. What people do with knowledge is not a fault of the scientific method nor of learning. A plane can be flown as transportation using Bernoulli's principle or it can be flown into a building by a terrorist using the same principle. Science is not to blame for how people act. Neither Marx nor Hitler was a scientist as you well know so stop the nonsense. People can put knowledge to any use they wish but scientists have a much better record than priests when it comes to criminal activity. I have not seen the National Academy of Sciences being pilloried in the press for pedophilia and such crimes. When the world was at crisis having discovered atomic energy the scientific community reluctantly broke their NEUTRALITY in how their knowledge was used and made their views known to the politicians. One of them was named Einstein and you may have heard of him. If there was a God, scientists would be the closest to him, her, or it. Science seeks to KNOW THE TRUTH...not to protect some belief passed on from a parent or a culture or a superstitious shaman.
