The biggest reason, of course, is that they're the fastest growing people group in America. That leads to a huge number of 1st generation immigrations who tend to be more set in their ways than the 2nd generation. But political correctness and divide-n-conquer tactics have also made it taboo to even discuss the idea of cultural assimilation. Cause you know, that would be "forcing our whiteness" upon them, and we can't have that, especially with our legacy of slavery and racism. Or at least that's the way modern liberals think.
