Ted, > The only difference between Asians and Latinos is that Asians make the transition during the first generation.

That only confirms my point. But let me reword what I said in my previous post.

Hispanics today tend to be less culturally assimilated than Africans, Asians, and even Native Americans.

Not true. Many Native Americans have not left the reservation. Many Africans tend to be better educated and speak English before they get here. African Americans are still struggling to get up the food chain after being in this country for over 300 years.

The biggest reason, of course, is that they're the fastest growing people group in America. That leads to a huge number of 1st generation immigrations who tend to be more set in their ways than the 2nd generation.

The biggest reason is that their home country is only 100 miles away from where they live in the US. Many have every intention of going back in a few years.......so why assimilate. In fact, the mother of the guy who got stopped yesterday has dual citizenship and has moved back to Mexico to retire. Its not fun to be a person of color in this country.

But political correctness and divide-n-conquer tactics have also made it taboo to even discuss the idea of cultural assimilation. Cause you know, that would be "forcing our whiteness" upon them, and we can't have that, especially with our legacy of slavery and racism. Or at least that's the way modern liberals think.

My God.....you have a vivid imagination. I never heard that one before. Frankly, I never enjoyed illegals and legals firing their guns into the air on Cinco de Mayo or on Mexican Independence day. I had hoped they would assimilate sooner rather than later. I don't know where you get your unique take on things but you might consider a career in screenwriting. ;-)
